Reenacting Logistics (Ancient and Event) - jkaler48 - 08-13-2010 Boring? Difficult? The Legions Logistics activities can be an interesting area to include in reenacting. Many groups already include some Logistics activities in their camp presentations such as ration issue/preparation and equipment repair. The Legions logistics operations included: Centralized equipment production and distribution. Centralized procurement and Shipment distribution of expendable supplies. Local procurement of supplies and equipment including payment of taxes in kind. Ordering by mail from vendors outside the local area. Items mailed from soldiers friends and relatives. In house repair and production of equipment. Mail from home and conflict with locals over procurements can add to reenactment scenarios whether for an immersion event or for a public display event. Re: Reenacting Logistics - Gaius Julius Caesar - 08-14-2010 I was thinking this would be about the actual modern logistic of organiszing an event and getting equipment transported there, the loading and unloading of vehicles, packing up tents and equipment again at the end of the event......a task of equal merit, but not the right thread sorry. Interesting idea, unfortunately we seem to be constricted by the agendas of the organizers of these bigger evnets, and the schedule barely permits time to do more than we normally do. I get the impression you have greater freedom of control at your events. Re: Reenacting Logistics - Paul Elliott - 08-14-2010 I too thought I'd be joining a thread about how I pack my gear, unload, etc. Re: Reenacting Logistics - texascavtrooper - 08-14-2010 Ya got me too! I was thinking it was about the logistics of going to an event or hosting an event! :? shock: Re: Reenacting Logistics - jkaler48 - 08-14-2010 I bow to the majority; Here is what I have on event planning. Something I have found to help me keep all my stuff together is a trunk. I have one of the big plastic ones with wheels. This helps me keep all my gear together as well as makes it easier to transport. Also the plastic trunk keeps the stuff dry if it rains while your traveling. Re: Reenacting Logistics (Ancient and Event) - M. Demetrius - 08-15-2010 Quid est plasticus? Re: Reenacting Logistics (Ancient and Event) - Astiryu1 - 08-15-2010 "Law Enforcement and Terrorist threat" Isn't that what the re-enactors are for? I suppose the Geneva convention gets in the way. The "Tool Wagons" that "Stanley" makes even have a locking mechanism and extendable handle. I have one of those and use it whenever I can for all kinds of stuff. Or you wear it in the car. That might turn a few heads on the roads though;not good. :| |
