Roman expert Fergus Millar has been knighted: BBC News.
Although lately more interested in Near Eastern social history, he is well-known for previous work on the Roman empire and Roman emperors (e.g. some books at Amazon UK, some books at Amazon US, some books at Amazon Germany, some books at Amazon France, ...).

I met Fergus at Royal Holloway (I think!) for a series of talks on the Roman Empire c.1997. A very nice man. It couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.
