And let's not forget that the popular account of the earlier work on the site is available at a reduced price in the Oxbow/David Brown summer sale.

Thank you Tony for posting these great pictures just fantastic and all the time we spent as a re-enactment group at this site in earlier times one never at all contemplated that this was all hidden beneath our feet.
I think it would not too be bold at all to say that this looks just like a Pompeii and Herculanium here in the north.

Binchester WOW - Vindex - 09-01-2013

Can't really say anything else other than how fantastic!

Binchester WOW - brennivs - tony drake - 09-02-2013

Thanks for your replys everyone Big Grin Brian you could be just about right on that one. I could not believe what I was looking at the plaster on the walls may have graffitie on it and this is on a plateau that goes right up too the main wall of the fort. Imagine the height of the fort wall :woot:
Here is a link too the geophis Big Grin

Tony - anything about the plaster would be really, really interesting if you find anything out about it. I still have a few treasured fragments from West Denton excavations and it would be fascinating to do a comparison.
