Could someone tell me where the optio of a century slept? Did he have a larger tent/room like the centurio's?<br>

Nobody knows for sure. Some have suggested the junior officers (<em>signifer</em>, <em>tesserarius</em> etc) used the centurion's quarters (which usually had several rooms and a corridor), whilst others have pointed to the fact that many barracks had more rooms than <em>contubernia</em> to fill them so may have been allotted to the underlings. You pays your money...<br>
