Burial mounts - Uhrisa - 07-24-2009

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet but this article in Dutch is about fully intact burial mounts from the second century AD. Ijsselstein is close to Utrecht (Ultra Trajectum)
Inside the burial mounts cremated human remains, pottery shards and animal bones where found. The find is called "unicque" in the article because until now only disturbed burial mounts where found in the Netherlands.

Our group will be taking part in this Roman Way of Death where we are hopefully recreating funerary finds for the archeologists to rummage through for months to come!
If you're anywhere near St Fagan's near Cardiff come and see us, we're also doing a bit of Gladiatorial combat after the funeral on the Sunday.
