Im researching for the latest RTR mod.

Basicaly Im looking for physical descripions of republican units. Details of arms, armour and clothing. Ive tried Perseus but cannot find what Im looking for.

Search for books by Peter Connolly (the legionairy, greece and rome at war, the cavalrymen) or try Bishop and Coulston - Roman military equipment 2nd edition

The title looked familar so I just went to my bookshelf and found I already have a copy. Cheers for jogging my memory.

i would also try doing some internet research

I would be wary of searching on the internet for information unless you already know what you are looking for. Of course, here at RAT, you are probably already in the best place on the internet to get information of that sort.

I would agree with Crispus on this. Most of my research into clothing was via many hours in a good old fashioned library. Information on the internet frequently does not give reliable sources. It might provide some interesting clothing pictures but then you will have to track down the source to get details of sizes etc..

Well I might have said try Roman Military Clothing 1-3 in Osprey but if you prefer to wait a couple of weeks then perhaps my 'Roman Miltary Dress', published by The History Press might be of interest to you. Unlike the Osprey series there is also a section on the Republic.

Graham.
