Themistokles, Aristides, and Kimon: Clans and Shield emblems - Mythos_Ruler - 03-08-2009

What clans did Aristides, Themistokles, and Kimon each belong to? How were these clans interacting around 480 BC? Were they at each other's throats (as usual)? Also, I understand each Athenian clan had its own shield emblem. Any idea what those would be for these 3 individuals and/or their clans? I am particular fascinated by the interplay/juxtaposition between Themistokles and Aristides.

Please see previous threads. There is no evidence for 'clan' symbols being used on Classical Greek shields at Athens or anywhere else.

Was this not the case in archaic times though? It did not carry on into early classical times (Battles of Marathon/Plataea)? I have seen PDFs on the web by George Heliopoulos, Nikos Panos, Eythemes Stiggas & Konstantinos Chalkiades that discuss Athenian clan shield emblems based upon their research. They are what sparked my curiosity about what clans Aristides and Themistocles might have been associated with (and subsequently their possible shield emblems).

Edit:

Found them, http://www.300spartanwarriors.com/hopli ... blems.html

And I have already scoured the "Hoplite Shields" thread.

Thanks for your time, Paullus (and anyone else).

I'm afraid the so-called information on sites such as this is based on pure speculation, not evidence, and is therefore "bogus".

I repeat, there is no actual evidence of Ancient Greeks using 'clan' shield symbols in ANY period.

Do not be taken in by such........
