Getting in-line attachments to view? - Neuraleanus - 01-27-2009

I had this figured-out before change happened, but now I am unsure. I seem to be having difficulty getting an inline attachment to view within a message. This may be a web browser issue as it seemed to work from home using Firefox, but when viewing using IE from work all that I see is the file name and upon attempting to open the image I get a message saying that the file header cannot be read. The image downloads from the message fine.

Ok, upon installing Firefox, I see that this problem is at least partially a browser problem. Using Firefox I can view the image upon clicking on the name of the attached file, but it still does not automatically view inline.

I think in-line viewing as you call it is a feature wich has to be supported by the board software (so phpBB in this case) and that the other part of the problem is on the user-end, as you confirm by your try with firefox. Seems IE doesn't allow you to open the link directly (to him it seems to be a php-file which opens as a picture, which he don't understand), but Firefox, being a 'smarter' browser, allows you to do so.

Hi Lee
FYI: In line viewing of attachments is activated on the board.
