Authentic Roman Cooking + Recipies - Lucius Duccius Rufinus - 09-04-2008

Not sure if this has been discussed before or not, but Does anyone have any good Ancient roman recipies, or can recommend any good sites / techniques?? I used to be a chef when i was going through uni, so i love to cook.. but i've not really experimented in the realms of the Roman kitchen as of yet, but i fancy giving it a bash!...

The main thing im interested in is a good roman bread recipe!!... The romans were utter carb junkies in this aspect!! Big Grin

Cheers Smile

Heay, if you have the money to burn, get the new Grainger-Grockock Apicius translation. You will not need another book on Roman cookerY for at least five years. It really is that good.

The Cookbook of Apicius is fantastic. I've made over a dozen recipes in it and they're great. Easy to follow as well, and you don't need exotic ingrediants.

Some of the recipes from the book are here. The Latin text is here.
