How do you make that? I mean, did a professional sculptor make the bird, or did you just paint something you picked up on the flea market?

From what i know of it Jona, Paul sculpted it and a bronze caster cast it.. if i get more details i will post them asap.

I don't know how it was constructed, but the eagle is covered in gold and the base in silversheet. I guess H.J is right with the wax sculpture and bronze casting, as that seems the most logical way of doing it.

Really? I have the impression I read somewhere that AQVILAE were silver...

And that's a gorgeous one- my hat's off the the sculptor :wink:

As far as I know, but I also don't have the source ready they were silvered first and somewhere in the first century they became golden to.

Looks really great!! Much attention to detail. Nice size too. Was it made with a lost wax procedure? I do hope they made a good mold and will be taking orders!
