Milan Coliseum re-opens - Luca - 07-05-2004 Not ashtonishing findings, but huge roman remaining in Milan!

www.romanhideout.com/News...040705.asp

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Robert Vermaat - 07-06-2004 Hi Luca,

That looks very nice to visit. Do you live near Milan?

Valete,
Valerius/Robert

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Luca - 07-06-2004 I live in Milan.

From the "roman" point of view this is not the best. The local authorities are pushing it a lot on the media, but I think, just to justify the great expenses they are doing. The Antiquarium is very well done, but are not displayed "cool" items.

Much more interesting the very small Archeological Museum of Milan, if you want I can post some exciting pics of the relevant things.

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Robert Vermaat - 07-06-2004 I'm glad there is at least some reconstruction of Roman remains going on in Italy. Last I heard was that due to the number of sites and general lack of money (it's a recession, after all), many monuments were in a sad state of repair. Take Pompeii, for instance..
Of course, I realise that Milan is in what is considered the 'wealthier' part of Italy?

Any Late Roman stuff in that museum?

Valete,
Valerius/Robert

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Luca - 07-06-2004 We have dozens of small museums with very few militar things.
On our Civic Archeological Museum (just an example):
www.romanhideout.com/imag...glass1.asp

further will follow.

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - aitor iriarte - 07-06-2004 Wow, that's a good diatreta !

Aitor

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Luca - 07-06-2004 there are only two of these in the world. One is in Germany, but I don't know where. Yes, a masterpiece.

Both anyway comes from Germany, where they were created from specialized people as gift for the Emperor (Valentinianus?)

Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Robert Vermaat - 07-06-2004 It's from a sarcophagus from Köln-Braunfeld, and it's kept in the Cologne Roman-German Museum.

Valete,
Valerius/Robert

Edited by: Vortigern Studies at: 7/6/04 5:55 pm
Re: Milan Coliseum re-opens - Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus - 07-06-2004 Wasn't there some big battle in Milan with some german guy called Frederick a while back.
THERE ARE NO STUPID PEOPLE, ONLY PEOPLE STUPID ENOUGH TO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY'VE MADE A MISTAKE
|
