Cohors Electorum - Arminius Primus - 06-01-2008 Ave, I was doing some on line research and came across the term Cohors Electorum. I searched the threads on RAT and came up with a negative. As far as my ability in Latin remains, I translate electorum, as I think genitive plural, ...So something like the picked ones, or the chosen ones. Has anyone else come across this term? I am familiar with vexilations being separated from the main legion, but have not seen this term before. Was this a common term that indicated perhaps just a detachment from the legion or does it imply a hand picked and mission tailored force? I then thought that I had seen somewhere that this term implied veteran status, but could not find a reference in my notes or on RAT. Any Ideas?? Regards from the Balkans, Aminius Primus aka Al |
