painted armour - Mick Saunders - 02-24-2008 I wonder how prevalent was the practice of palnting armour particularly in the late roman period. I am thinking about helmets, greaves and such lilke. I seem to remember seeing photographs on this site from various events on the continent. Anyone any thoughts? It was common practice at other periods, both looking good and having a practical purpose re rust etc. Any photos or other representations? mick saunders Re: painted armour - Tarbicus - 02-24-2008 Mick, you might want to go to this thread: http://www.romanarmy.com/rat/viewtopic.php?t=10577 painted helmets - Mick Saunders - 02-25-2008 Tarbicus thank you. Re: painted armour - John Conyard - 02-25-2008 Just cover your helm in silver plate. It does the trick! Re: painted armour - Gaius Julius Caesar - 02-25-2008 And shines really nicely too! |
