Lupercalia - Libitina - 02-12-2008

Hope everyone has their goats at the ready? [Image: action-smiley-039.gif]

I understand it's a little tricky to get away with recreating the old festival but do any groups celebrate Lupercalia in their own way?

Certainly would have been more eventful than our current commercialised Valentines Day!

Re: Lupercalia - Matthew Amt - 02-12-2008

Heck, yes, it's the best party of the year for Legio XX! And it's coming up this Saturday, in fact. Pretty sure everyone anywhere near the Washington DC area has been invited. Richard, do you have any photos from previous year online?

Years ago we tried doing our annual big bash on Saturnalia, but everyone has too much going on during the Christmas season. So we moved to Lupercalia, which has even more potential for craziness!

Vale, and Happy Lupercalia!

Matthew

Nigh on. I almost invited the National Park Service folks to see if we could influence them on sponsorship, but thought better of it.
There still is time to get the chocolate fountain going, for the Hostess mini doughnut dips, washed down with Mountain Dew, in honor of our glorious commander upon whose nether parts the sun shines brightly and the winds never ...

But he won't be doing that at Lupercalia..at least I don't remember anything like that..

Wish we had a Bank Holiday for them all! Big Grin

Re: Lupercalia - Lochinvar - 02-14-2008

OK Peroni.
We now need you to publish the bank holidays for the coming month for a whole year. Could you please do it a couple of days in advance so that we can nip down to Waitrose to get the canapes and dips in, or in my case get to the gym for a few sit-ups before any public displays.

Ooo get you and your posh nosh

I'm celebrating today in the time honoured fashion of pizza from Spar and a cup of tea. I've already bought myself some chocolate and will pick some daisies from the garden so I have flowers. I pronounce Romance is dead in south Wiltshire today. :? D

Re: Lupercalia - Memmia - 02-14-2008

I got NO card, NO flowers, bugger all.

In fact hubby didn't even realise it was Valentine's day.
I think he's getting his own back for me forgetting the pancakes last week
