Pugio sheath plate type A - LVCIVS VVLPES - 01-15-2008

Just finished a Pugio sheath type A plate,
the original is from the Auerberg ( 10/15 AD - 40/45 AD )
length of the plate is 258 mm
all the work is done with graver's and chisels no etching,
inlay is brass and enamel

Cheers

Luc

Stunning work, well done!

I'm interested in which parts you used the chisels for, and which parts the gravers?

Oh wow. And they say we Late Romans are colourful!

VERY nice work Luc. More than one laud point will be heading your way over the next hour or two. That is fantastic work! I wish I could do as well.

Yes there are rather too many of the actually rather atypical plain sheaths in re-enactment. Luc's sheath must stand as an example to all of us of what we should strive for.

Luc - having done this type of work before, I can only say that this took my breath away.

I guess I should start doing this to my Roman kit.

Re: Pugio sheath plate type A - M. Demetrius - 01-15-2008

Most excellent. A + doesn't seem like enough.

Re: Pugio sheath plate type A - Magnus - 01-16-2008

Man...that's crazy. The amount of patience and discipline that must have taken...I'm envious! I don't have that skill set!

Well done! Dare I ask how many hours that took?

Could a similar pattern be done on deepeeka's new plain pugio pattern?

Re: Pugio sheath plate type A - Martin Moser - 01-16-2008
