Just finished this today... - Peroni - 10-14-2007

Centurio's transverse crest for one of my customers. Thought I'd post a pic or two.. Took me two days from start to finish.

WOW! That's fantastic. Is the crest box wood, also will these possibly be available with a red crest in the future? Thanks!

OK, Peroni, I'm hooked. And you had to put it on a Krefeld helmet, too.

How much for one of these? My old crest is getting quite tired.

As usual, your work is superb. Big Grin

Peroni,

Lovely work as usual. Gittus is gonna be well impressed!

Is the Crest attachment an off the shelf item or did you knock it up yourself?

Re: Just finished this today... - Peroni - 10-14-2007

@ David...
Prices are £95.00 per crest for something this size. I only use the finest horsehair (Instrument bow-makers hair) which is a bit more pricey! Price is the same whether it has a tail or not as the labour is still the same!

@ Bill...
Yes, Bill the crest box is wood. Red crests will be an option once I get the hang of dying the white! I'm due to make a red plume crest for a Coolus D soon for a member of RAT, so I'll post pics of that when it's ready.

@ Mark...
I'm sure Gittvs will be pleased! The crest support is cast bronze and a copy of one of the finds from Rheingonheim. Made by Nodge Nolan. The standard ones are front-back fitment, but Nodge is making up a few transversely fitted ones for me.

Making kit items like that all day long....what a rough job you have Smile lol:

Great job on the crest! Might I ask what inspired the colors?

I have a full-time day job! And it has nothing to do with Roman kit!

The colours were inspired by the customer specification!

Apologies, for some reason I thought it was your bread and butter. I really do like the crest, though. Great work!

Ave Adrian,

Impressive, great, perfect – your skills are awesome! Big Grin D D
Laudes!

That’s exactly the crest of my dreams we were talking about (for a Gallic C then) – I’m already saving some money to keep you busy for another two days.

BTW: when you’ll visit India again, please put a ‘centurion's version’ (side hooks) of at least some helmets on the wish-list for Gagan (he might start with the Gallic C  )

Re: Just finished this today... - Peroni - 10-16-2007

No need for an apology Joel! I have a 9-5 working for a technical body of the oil industry. I do the Roman stuff when I get home and at weekends when I get the time!

Thanks for your comments Heiko! I'm sure that Deepeeka can do a few one-offs for centurions!

Re: Just finished this today... - Marcus Mummius - 10-16-2007

Very nice crest!

What wood did you use? What kind of saw did you use to cut it out?

Vale,
