Imperial Gallic F 08 - LUCIUS ALFENUS AVITIANUS - 10-10-2007

Jasper,

I can confirm that helmet is owned now by the Museo Arqueológico Nacional (Spain) in Madrid. It's not (as i know) currently exposed.

I'll try to get the inventary number.

Another Gutmann Helmet, that tinned bronze gallic with the chhekpieces with wings embossed is in that museum, too.

Inventary number is MAN 2002/125/2

Another ex-Guttman helmet in the Museo Arqueologico Nacional is Imperial Gallic G 5.

Inventary number is MAN 2002/125/3.

So, Jasper, you can confirm the actual location of both helmets in Madrid.

Why buy such nice helmets and then don't put them on display? I would've been very pleased to photograph them there. :wink:

And if you go to Madrid, now in Museo Arqueologico Nacional is a exhibition about etruscs. Very Nice!

Verboten. Very strictly, not even a cellphone camera was allowed.
