It must have made a big hole in your bank account for such nice kit! Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - D B Campbell - 09-16-2007 Quote:I have at least finish my carroballista ...Nice job, Emmanuel (though I'd probably call it a scorpio rather than a ballista -- long story). Can you tell us some dimensions -- e.g. what size are the washers? Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - Emmanuel - 09-16-2007 Thanks far all the felicatations. The washers are 12 cm of diameter on the exterior and the hole in the center is of 7,5 cm. All the pieces of this scorpion are made by proportions about the text of Vitruvius. The washers are a copy of the one which is in the Museum of Bath. I have decided to put this scorpion on wheels as it is drawn on the Trajan column. It's an hypothesis, but the wheels are the same of the wheels whose are discovered at Herculanum. It's the first stage, because I'm working on an attelage for it with horses. I have tryed yet to shoot with it and I have made some shoots about 2 hundred meters in parabolic shoot, but it's just the beginning. Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - Virilis - 09-16-2007 Very nice job indeed, Emmanuel hock: ! In addition to that great looking "Scorpio" it is nice to see also a perfectly fitting helmet (I know, I know, here I go again  ...). Can you tell us who has made your helmet? Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - Emmanuel - 09-16-2007 for the Helmet it's a special production of Manning Imperiel in australia and for the crista it's made by me. The helmet is tinned with silver It's a copy of the which has been discovered at Eich. The type is a Port but with somes modifications as on the original. Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - Virilis - 09-16-2007 Thanks, Emmanuel! Custom job is, after all, a custom job  ... Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - Robert Vermaat - 09-16-2007 Looks great! Do you also do Late Roman? Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - Emmanuel - 09-17-2007 I have no costum of late roman but I have a cheiroballistra made about the description of Heron d'Alexandrie. You can see it on this forum at the part on cheiroballistra. Re: If you need a Praefectus fabrum with carroballista - AntonivsMarivsCongianocvs - 09-17-2007 That is a radically AWESOME kit!!! The carroballista is cherry but I was most intrigued by your shield… very accurate looking and it’s GREAT to see something with raised embellishments and not painted. If that shield of yours suddenly turned into marble… that is very much like what we see in the ancient sculptures… do you have any other close up photos of it? I’m still working on my Subarmalis but, I have a curved shield (which I’m going to cut more egg shaped or oval to match the Praetorian shields) and I just picked up a sheet of 24 gauge steel for the embellishments. Also, on the Pteryges… did you lay the fringe on underneath and sew around or did you sandwich the fringe in between? I have two layers of quilted diamond pattern felt for my Subarmalis and I was going to use 100% cotton fringe and then add a layer of alternating red and a layer of white linen over each but, I’m still a little puzzled on how exactly to add the fringe.
