Re: Roman Gladiator Costume - Jeroen Pelgrom - 09-15-2007 that is the most realistic looking piece of Roman equipment i ever saw! i nominate him for a hasta pura. Re: Roman Gladiator Costume - Matthew Amt - 09-15-2007 Actually, for a Halloween outfit (which is what it is advertised as), it's darn good! Look at how the shapes of the plates are outlined (maybe the maker had a peek at the Legio XX site?), and there are metal fittings attached. I've seen a similar one done with the silvery fabric used for ironing board covers. Cheap, light, and doesn't rust. Yeah, it's a classic "troopers" helmet, and a schlock zinc sword, but overall it's still better than anything from "Gladiator". It wasn't meant for reenacting, and there really isn't much chance that any adult is going to try to wear this to one of your events. Really, if all the crap on ebay was this *good*, it would be a better world! Valete, and Happy Halloween, Matthew |
