Re: Amazon Reenactment - T. Finkas - 04-05-2007 Hi AthenaK, Here's a Hoplite group from the UKthat includes some of its members participating as Scythians---including a few women. You might enjoy looking over their costuming guide for Scythians and get some ideas for your own kit. I am working on my own Scythian impression. I have the soft kit and am now working on the armour and weapons. This is me and my wife. Please note my wife's outfit is just a generic Middle Eastern type. I still have to make her a proper Scythian costume. Mine was inspired by this embossed bowl from the 5th century BC. Let me know if I can be of any more help in your quest! Cheers, Tim (aka Tymnes the Scythian) Re: Amazon Reenactment - Tarbicus - 04-05-2007 You guys should watch the 1956 version of Helen of Troy, if you haven't already. Scythian archers aplenty. You'd also love the rest of the panoplies being worn, I was very impressed. Re: Amazon Reenactment - Gaius Julius Caesar - 04-05-2007 Just found this post again! That was a great clip of the scythian armoured cavelry, Gioi! Athena, have you decided what period you are going to re-enact? Re: Amazon Reenactment - Arthes - 04-05-2007 Quote:Hi Athena, Have you read Steven Pressfields "Last of the Amazons"? That's my favourite book of his.....! Athena, I am in the English group that has the Scythian/Amazons...the women who want to do anything martial portray mercenary allies of the Hoplites or their enemies...! This is one group where women 'wear the trousers'... Re: Amazon Reenactment - Steve Lenz - 04-06-2007 Here some better pics from Ferro, my scythian girl: http://archaeoforum.freehost.ag/Userbil ... sct13a.JPG http://archaeoforum.freehost.ag/Userbil ... sct14a.JPG http://archaeoforum.freehost.ag/Userbil ... sct15a.JPG http://archaeoforum.freehost.ag/Userbil ... /sct1a.JPG http://archaeoforum.freehost.ag/Userbil ... /sct4a.JPG Time to make my own kit.... Re: Amazon Reenactment - Gaius Julius Caesar - 04-06-2007 Very nice, Steve! Re: Amazon Reenactment - A_Volpe - 04-06-2007 AthenaK - If anyone is foolish enough to give you trouble doing reenacting or whatever, don't worry about it, we'll all take good care of them for you. (we might have to form a line and take turns doing so) Re: Amazon Reenactment - AntonivsMarivsCongianocvs - 04-06-2007 Salve Athena K, Valentine Armories is going out of business… they have several female armor pieces you might be interested in on this page: [url:3iary9g8]http://www.varmouries.com/vspec6.html[/url] Re: Amazon Reenactment - M.
