Indeed, very sad.

But, I agree he has left an unmistakable and far reaching legacy with his works who have been seen by, and admired by, perhaps a million people, and will continue to do so for several more years. As a fellow Artist, I think that is something we could never really grasp or imagine.

Re: Angus McBride Has Passed Away - Ramesses II - 05-23-2007

Re: Angus McBride Has Passed Away - Virilis - 05-23-2007

Cry Just when I made jokes about his recent "Gimli-like" trend in his latest pictures! In all a great illustrator!

Re: Angus McBride Has Passed Away - Gaius Julius Caesar - 05-23-2007

This is sad news! I didn't realise it until now , but I have admired his work for longer than just my discovery of Osprey Roman books! I love his work! Was always a fan of fantasy art when younger. He has definately inspired me!

Sad news indeed. His work was a constant source both of reference and inspiration. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
Graham.

Re: Angus McBride Has Passed Away - JP Vieira - 09-23-2007

He will be missed.
Such an excellent artist: an irreplaceable one.
He left us his marvelous body of work and no one can pretend to replace him or be his sucessor: we can only try to do our best in our own style and hope, with hard work, to produce artwork that can give people the joy that his work gave them.
There will always be only one Angus McBride!

Re: Angus McBride Has Passed Away - Iagoba - 10-14-2007

After some years I learned how was any picture of him, without seeing the sign. The chainmail, the (always somewhere) birds flying, the details....Cry
I remenber that a friend told me one drawer had dead recently, and then I asked him- Angus McBride? and he said yes...
His Osprey books and the Rolemaster covers he draw set a very high standard for any drawer.

And of course he has influenced the way of seeing the past.

- Did someone noticed the birds in his drawings? There are few of them without. I wonder why...

Re: Angus McBride Has Passed Away - Theodosius the Great - 10-24-2009

Update :

It seems that Mr McBride didn't get a chance to contribute to the next book he would have worked on. Sad
The cover of the book "The Army of Herod the Great" credits the illustrator Christa Hook.
