There is a good picture of a "real" roman greave on Legion VI's website in their real gear section.

It's in the bottom row of this page:

It's got some lines(grooves or folds) up and down the greave, and it's got three rivets on each side to hold onto rings.

It's this one I think.

That's the original from which Armamentaria and DSC made their reconstruction.

I think that yes, because there are armors without holes to sew lining.

We used glue as well. It's a nice way to hold the layers of fabric and leather cover while sewing!

Hide glue

I've used a combo of hide and beeswax and rosin. Works great.
