I am planning an illustration (actually 2 one for infantry and other for cavalry), of the Roman Army of the 3rd century AD.
I plan to do 3 figures in each illustration (one of the early, of the middle and one for the latter 3 rd century AD), depicting the changes in equipment and appearance of the Roman Army throughout that century.
Basically we start with equipment similar to the early empire and end the century with equipment more similar to the equipment of other peoples.
I have a pretty good idea about the appearance at the early 3 rd century, but what would king of soldier /equipment representative of this change (in the middle and at the end of the century), both for cavalry and infantry?
