Hi everyone

Forgive this 1st post ,
I looking for a group to join in UK in around & Essex can anyone recommend a group ?

I have got the bug by playing a roman in Nativity and having a go at making Lorica
(only out of 2mm aluminium and modern rivets don’t shoot me down
I know its not up to standards but has given me a understanding / feeling for making stuff) any idea or where to go from here as want to do more but limited budget
:?:
Why not come to the Colchester Military Festival at the weekend? There's going to be two Roman groups there (I'm a member of them both) I live in Felixstowe just over the river in Suffolk

Colchester Roman Soiciety and the RMRS (Legio XIIII GMV) Both excellent groups!

have a look at the website and the events list. There's a link there to more info on the weekends event! Big Grin

I was planning on going On Sunday as its only up the road (15-20miles)

will there be there both days ??
Yes, as will I!

Look for the guys with the green oval shields. When you find them, ask for Peronis! Look forward to meeting you and having a chat! Big Grin
Alternatively, if you can't find any of the men with green oval shields because a lazy shepherd allowed his sheep to stray into view   , look for the stalwart chaps with the blue rectangular shields and ask for Crispvs.

See you on Sunday!

Crispvs.. Don't try and poach a potential Colchester Roman Society recruit!

Ah - good point. Anyway, I've always enjoyed working with the Colchester boys (and girl) and if we went back to doing a few more shared jobs we would see a lot more of each other anyway.

Thanks for chat, must admit the Romans did look the best at the show and were friendiest talking to the public compared to other time periods but I am biased

Having the different areas / facets of roman life looked really good
Will pm with more questions later
