I’m currently reading the Conquest of Rome and in it Julius Caesar describes some of the battles in detail. Ex: the left flank was overrun, the Calvary crashed into the front lines, the Centurion told the men not to bunch up etc.

I’m looking for other books descibing the details of Roman battles.

Which books would recommend that are primarily about the battles and heavy in the details?

Flavius Josephus' account of the siege of Jerusalem and Ammianus Marcellinus' account of the siege of Amida offer many details. Livy on the battles of Hannibal (especially Cannae). I hope this helps.

For a modern work, find a copy of Gregory Daly's Cannae. He analyzes the battle the way Keegan did in The Face of Battle; it is an excellent work, IMHO.
