Has anyone read this book?

The Long Year A.D. 69 by Kenneth Wellesley

Any pointers to how good it is would be appreciated, thanks.

It's excellent.

The third edition (2000) has an intro by Mrs. Barbara Levick, who is the author of a brilliant book on Vespasian. Her introduction makes Wellesley's book almost up-to-date again. I say "almost" because Mrs. Levick does not mention (because it had not yet appeared) Rhiannon Ash, Odering Anarchy. Armies and Leaders in Tacitus' Histories (1999).
