Albion Armourers is launching a presens in Europe this spring. That hopefully means no private importfees.

More info on their site I beleeve.

Martin
That would be nice. I know someone who bought a blade from them and paid a lot of import tax Smile
They told me that they will be located in Denmark.
Yes! A good chice I think! I haven´t met Soren in person but from friends I´ve heard he is a realy knolageble and pleasant chap.
Hello Martin!

Is there any "inside information" if the swords will become cheaper with this "european connection" compared to ordering from the States?

Regards,
The information I have is from people on the www.myarmoury.com forum. The general consensus there seems to be that this might come in the future but at the time Sören is the spokesman for Albion here in Europe.

I hope to start a small buissnes importing swords and other related products in the near future and I hav had contact with the good people at Albion about that. My plan is to be able to import as a buissnes and then the customs could be slightly less expensive and the shipping from US could be spread on the number of imported items.

This is not at all in port yet as the say. More on the drawing boeard, but hopefully with a agent in Europe importers here will have more of a chance to cooperate on the shipping and issues like that.

The future looks bright though...

Martin
I am the one that bought the blade. Yes, you wouldn't have to pay those taxes anymore, but you also can't profit from the cheaper Dollar either and you still have to pay end user tax (btw/tva). So in the end it will probably be the same.

Jurgen/Quintilianus
Hi Jurgen,

And I've heard from Albion that they do not sell seperate blades anymore, only complete swords. This makes me very sad. I won't pay 500€ for a sword without the scabbard. Their are better alternatives than that.
That's really a shame! Cry their blades are top quality and readily availabe.

Jurgen/Quintilianus
In my opinion Albion Swords are beginning to reach the upper limit of their sword-prices ....

550 dollars for a gladius and 650,- for a Spatha WITHOUT scabbards and a GROUND BLADE. Their swords look great, but at that price I think it would be reasonable to have a forged blade, hmmmm...

I had with 225 euro`s a great Pompeii-style gladius from Len Morgan of Fabrica. And with a great scabbard!

Still, I´ll propably buy their late roman Spatha in the future, the flesh is weak  ....

Regards,
I also think they charge too much! But it is still cheap if I compare with what I have to pay for equal tools for my special interesst.

They are fully functional in a way other grounded blades are not. At least when it come to Longswords they are to the others just under them in price as sportscars compared to old volvos.

To get something that compears to them in preformace as REAL swords, I have to buy a piece from a bladesmith and that will cost more.

But I have very special needs! I need a sword that preformes as the originals and feels like them. In this the albionblades are outstanding in their pricerange.

And we can always harass them into making a gladius and a spathae in the Squireline. They are renown for listening to customers needs and wants.

Martin
Squire-line roman sword, thats a very good idea Martin!

I understand you have special needs for swords with combat-practising, in that perspective the swords are not expensive, I think.

In my opinion roman swords were often very crude tools, not being worshipped as individual items like for example in celtic and sarmatian cultures. In fact roman swords would fit perfectly in "Squire Line" in that respect!
But I do not get why you would buy a sword from albion when you can get one from Mark Morrow a lot cheaper. Those swords are real swords... I'd think Mark's swords are better than those from Albion...
You`re also right, Marcus!

I have a spearblade made by Mark Morrow and it is lethal! Perhaps I should order a blade from him and assemble the grip-parts myself...

There`s still the question of the scabbard....
You can have the scabard made by Matt Lukes. It has been done before. You can buy a blade from Mark Morrow, he sends it to Matt Lukes and he makes the scabbard, and the grip if you like. That way you have a better sword and a great scabbard for the same price or even less than only the sword from Albion.
