Hi I found this http://www.legionsix.org/musclecuirass.jpg but with out anything talking about a date or source. Does any one know where it was found and when it is dated to?
Hi Sulla (could you please include your real first name somewhere in your post or profile? thanks!),

The picture at least comes from Legio VI's Real Gear page... It was in the private collection of Axel Guttmann, I'm not aware of any provenience for this beautiful baby. It could be 4th c. BC, probably comes from Italy, of Greek production but - can't be sure.
Ok thanks for the help.

Also updated my profile some.
Now the only thing that remains is to select 'Always attach my signature' in your profile. Big Grin
Where is that in the profile I dont see it.
I believe the cuirass was in the Guttman collection, I think it Hellenistic, 4th-3rd C. BC, it may have been from mainland Italy' possibly Campanian, can't be sure, but I am pretty sure it was in the Guttman collection. Auctioned in Christies during 2004.
Ok thanks. I was trying to figure out how far removed from the 1st century roman breast plates of the same design it was. Since as far as I know their have been no roman ones found.
