Just out of curiousity, about what time did the chiton go out of style in favor of the tunic? I'm talking about the kind of chiton like Matt Amt has on his Greek Hoplite site.

Cheers,
Adam
It seems not exactly to go out of style but to be evolving.
I belive it is a large transition phace from roman middle imperial period to dark ages. As I have pointed out in many threads the chiton was not the only Greek clothing item depite being the most widely depicted.
Kind regards
Stefanos
Stefanos,

Thanks for the reply. I figured it probably evolved, just like all other clothing, but was just wondering how long that particular style lasted while retaining its basic look etc. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Cheers,
Adam
Thanks Adam. If you want to pursue this this further, follow:
www.benaki.gr . They have english page. They have a collection of Greek folk costumes. You might be able to understand a bit more on the subject.
Arthes also posted a link with Greek folk dress but I cant find it now.
It might help you very much.
Kind regards
Stefanos
Stefanos,

Thanks yet again! That's a really nice site. I'll have to give it a more thorough look through next week, as I have 3 papers to do this weekend that are due on Monday.

Cheers,
Adam
