Has anybody got any photos online yet?? Five groups depicting the Roman-era on one field (Comitatus, Ermine Street Guard, ERA, the Troop and Britannia). Excellent!

The 'show' was Magnus Maximus' uprising and rallying of troops in Britain, with a defection and battle. We (Comitatus) supported the usurper ... Big Grin
My pics of the 500 Years of the Roman Army display can be found here:

Comitatus supplied the Late Romans, whilst our friends the Ermine Street Guard provided the early Romans.

There's also some photos of a certain person in his tent ...

None of the Magnus Maximus show as I was on the field in kit, so couldn't get me camera out Cry
Actually, the "Ermine Street Guard", as mentioned above, numbered just over forty men and included around a dozen members of Gemina Project, I believe eight men fron the Isca Contubernium, three members of the Roman Military Research Society, and possibly members of other groups I was not aware of, in addition to the twenty or so members of the ESG who were there.
Like Viventius, I cannot provide any pictures because I too was in it. It was good to display in a large composite group again, although I think our (RMRS) auxilia get treated a lot better than those of the ESG (I left my own kit at home and borrowed a friend's auxiliary kit). The main damper on things was the ridiculously heavy rain on the Saturday. Two shows per day didn't leave as much time as I would have liked to see the site and more displays by other groups, but then again, one can only ever see so much.

Crispvs
You all looked wonderful..I was there in 17thcent mode, still de-mudding & de-rusting various bits & cursing a gun that didn't want to go off....
Falco, I think you (17th century) lot were out in the worst of the rain on Saturday, so you have my sympathies, not to say admiration. Us Late Romans got of lightly in comparison. I'm still discovering stuff that needs drying/ airing out before going back into storage as it is.
Thank you kindly....wouldn't be so bad if we wern't off to another event next week.......had a happy late night burble on the Saturday with some of the Brittania guys who were busy winding up the H&S people with some interesting games......

Maybe we should find a good small camera that can be used surrepliously and disguised to look like part of our kit....a pity those keyring types are not that good....it could be hidden behind our shields disguised as plumbata then whipped out to 'inspect' while leaning on spear...!
As long as we remember not to throw it by mistake....
