I've been looking to get a decent quality scutum for quite some time, although I keep waffling between a republic era or early imperial era recreation. At any rate, what are my options currently. Am I stuck with deepeeka? I noticed a lot of sellers listed on several legions' websites either no longer carry anything other than deepeeka or no longer operate their websites.

On a side note, did the reenactment scene slow down? I remember just a couple of years ago there were many websites carrying a much greater variety of gear. Shields, armor etc.
Where are you based?
DSC broke up and Deepeeka switched distributors so getting reproductions from manufacturers is currently kind of a jumbled mess.
DSC broke up?
Ok see I figured. It's a shame too because DSC had some good looking shields! Im in California so as far away from most distributors as possible lol.
Why not make one yourself ? The parts are on the market

My biggest issue is space. I don't have enough room where I live to cut and shape the wood.
If someone from the post is still interested, I manufacture laminated shields. Just send a MP.
Great quality (but it has its price of course):
