I've long awaited the doctoral thesis by Stefanie Hoss on Roman military belts to be published.
Now I found out it's already online (free!).

Cingulum Militare : Studien zum römischen Soldatengürdel des 1. bis 3. Jh. n. Chr.

It's a huge 880 MB file in German with Dutch summary and lots of plates.

The catalogue illustrations alone are enough to make a grown man weep! I asked Stefanie about her publishing it (at Limes 2015) and she said it was going to happen. It is a stunning achievement.

Perchance in English (or even French)?
HI
...it seems they have put it "under Embargo" again -- this time 2 years longer. :? :errr:
So the question will not be: "available in English" but "available again"

I thought so. At least I did get a copy.
Richard, did you get a digital copy and might it send to me?
Stefanie informed me several weeks ago that her thesis will be published at Verlag Marie Leidorf (Kölner Studien zur Archäologie der römischen Provinzen). Most people will be familiar with this series from e.g. the publications of Miks or Nabbefeld.

I have been waiting for this for quite some time now Smile
I had downloaded it, the complete version. Now I find, reading it, that chapter XIII is missing, i.e. there is only the first page of it in this version. Missing pages 171-178. Bummer, that was what I was most interested in. ;-)
Hi,
...since was not able to find another reference to Stefanie Hoss' doctorate thesis, I'll give an update:

1) It's published here  :    https://scholarlypublications.universite...1887/23627
However it says :"984 pages" on one hand, but shows the "tables" as "closed access". My guess , however, would be that the "Full Download " is complete by now.

2) While we're at it : Dr. Hoss most recent work "The Production Of Military Equipment- Fabricae, Private Production And More " "Panel 9.1" is available open access here:
https://books.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/propy...g/book/761

Enjoy   Wink
