Just showing off some pieces from the museum I work at. A "Camel-leopard" AKA a Giraffe, Greek tablet writing bragging about setting up these mosaics, peacock and a saddled horse.
I like the camel leopard giraffe type critter. Somebody had a sense of humour methinks
Basically from what I know, is they only had the name to work off of since Giraffes were so super rare, so they look kinda funny unless you were next to one while carving.
Sean which museum would be that? and can you tell more about the provenance of the mosaics?
Chrysler art museum. and they are from.... who knows! I think I heard Eastern Med, or Turkey? ...Maybe Greece. I think Turkey was it though. Chrysler Jr. Just bought stuff... no questions really asked or he didn't care.
