The 10th legion was sent to Jerusalem during the Jewish wars but now someone named Estilius states that the 9th legion was stationed in Britain and not the 10th but my information says the 10th legion and dutch contingents were sent to Rome and after being reconstituted then sent tp Jerusalem. Resolution sought for the whereabouts of 9th legion during the Jewish wars and whether the 10th legion really was stationed in Britain? Thank YHou Petertomber ([email protected])

Depends to which Jewish Wars you are referring. At the time of those in the AD 60s, the IX Hispana was definitely in Britain and still there at the beginning of the 2nd century AD when it dedicated an inscription in York. By the time of the Jewish Revolt of the AD 130s, the Ninth had left Britain and their ultimate destination is a matter of debate.

The Tenth briefly visited Britain with Julius Caesar in 55 BC but never formed part of the garrison after the Claudian invasion of AD 43.

Is there any record for the remnants of the X legion combined with the Dutch and other ancillary units along the Dutch and French coast being transferred to Rome for re-settlement of veterans in Abruzzo region as established by Senators CAFUS who were twins and established a capital of AQUILA (Eagle=Roman Eagle?) This was to open up the Appenine area of central Italy. To this day most of the inhabitants are light skinned, blue and green eyed, Blond and red hair coloring etc. Thank You Petertimber ([email protected])
error in spelling: APENNINE. Peter
I don't know if you will find anything in John Mann's thesis here:
