I am not sure if this topic should have been in events but I have posted it here to let others who may have the chance to go see this fantastic treasure.
It is now on display and will be until the 15th of September.
Here are a couple of pictures of the Hoard for those who may not have the chance of seeing this, and it might also be added that Backworth may have had a fortlet on the 255 line discovered by the late Raymond Selkirk.
That is some gorgeous stuff! I'm often amazed at how complex the designs were on some of the metalwork, even the "day to day" cooking gear, etc. In our modern drive for low prices and mass production, we have lost much of the craftsmanship that was common in the ancient cultures. Pity.

That Patera is of course a donative item to the Mother goddesses by a Fabius Dubitatus, here is a closer picture of it where we see there is gold inlay put into the handle.
I was brought up in Backworth and will hope very much to see this at Segedunum.

Silver ones, inlaid ones.....all fantastic works of art.

That is very true for here is the handle of another from the BM that was found at Capheaton in Northumberland, sadly most of this hoard was chopped up into bits by the workmen who found it back in the 19th century.

Interesting the one from Segedunum is a votive offering. A sign of wealth by any standards
