Hello everyone, I'm doing a research paper over greek armor, the Corinthian style helms in particular. I was wanting to know, is there a specific name for that style helm or if anyone could refer me toward some good literature I could use for resources. Any help would be appreciated.
It was my understanding that the Greeks actually called that syle "Corinthian"! (Imagine us using the correct term for once, eh?) Unfortunately, I have no idea what ancient source that might be from. Or even if it's correct...
Good luck, though! Khaire,
I'm not sure where else it crops up, especially as I haven't read all of Thucydides in the Greek, but I know at least of one mention in Herodotus, 4.180.3. It's a very strange little story, but that doesn't matter; the helmet is still called 'Corinthian'.
