A unique variant of Roman mail shirts has been found in the early 80s in Bertoldsheim, Germany. Attached to it was a 2 piece breast plate otherwise only known from Roman scale armor. The mail shirt itself (iron rings, as usual) is further segmented by vertical and horizontal rows of bronze rings.
We are now working on a reconstruction of this mail shirt, the breast plate I (at long last) finished a few days ago: http://sutor.jimdo.com/escapees/roman/br...ail-shirt/
