A unique variant of Roman mail shirts has been found in the early 80s in Bertoldsheim, Germany. Attached to it was a 2 piece breast plate otherwise only known from Roman scale armor. The mail shirt itself (iron rings, as usual) is further segmented by vertical and horizontal rows of bronze rings.
We are now working on a reconstruction of this mail shirt, the breast plate I (at long last) finished a few days ago: http://sutor.jimdo.com/escapees/roman/br...ail-shirt/
nice Martin you are a gifted craftsman
Martin.

I have made several of the squamata types but this is the first I have seen from mail, I have to also say that you have made a very good job indeed.
Wonderful work. Will you be making the mail shirt that goes with it as well?

Cheers,
Martijn
