So, who was the man? I've been able to find only a little in english, and it seems as though his collection is very prominent in our field of study. Does anyone know much about him? For example, how did he make his (what I assume to be) fortune? Where did he find/buy all of these items of Classical armor? Antiquities dealers?

Just thought it might be an interesting discussion for those of us who know only the barest details.

basically he made a fortune in construction and real estate that he almost lost, he bought mostly weapons from dealers but also from black market
