Hi there,

I need some help; Can anyone help me by sending some pictures of how to start making a practical willow scuttum.

Jurjen, your picture is good, but I can't use it.
It's too complicated to make a mall like that and it's not practical to work that way for me. Sorry. :-(

I've search for some information, but I can't find anything.

So if there's anyone who can help me out here. Thank you.

Pictures are also good, Not only from the outsiden but also from the inside of the scutum.

Greetings,

Wilma
Wilma,
I used "buig triplex" 2layers of 4 mm glued together, then put "spanbanden" around it and let dry for a day.(Make sure that you cut of the extent so after drying it is one piece)
draw the lines for the grip and cut out the circular mounting.(as on several pictures) then glue a sheet of linen on it.let dry and paint. Fasten with staples to the wood.
And make a edging in brass of Rawhide (this the easyest) Rawhide can be boyght in a animalshop, Dogs like to chew on it.
Let it soak in water and cut strips to fit the edge, put them on and let dry using clothpins. after drying drill holes and sew the rawhide on the sscutum.
Fasten the umbo. and a nice scutum is almost ready. Just paint a nice pattern on it.
Here on RAT several can be found.
Good luck
Jos, I think Wilma is talking about a willow shield, like this one:

Yes Jvrjen,

This is the shield I'm talking about.
I have that picture also sendet by Jef on our forum.
But there is no picture of the inside and there is not a subscribtion of how to make practical shields.

I have something in mind, but I don't know if it is possible to realise that.

Greetings,
Wilma
