'Le Destin de Rome'/'The Destiny of Rome': what looks to be a sumptuous, broodingly atmospheric series set in the time of the First Triumvirate complete with Latin dialogue. Produced by Fabrice Hourlier with DOCSIDE Production/INDIGENES Productions/ARTE/RTBF/Télé-Québec/SKAI/DR. I'll forgive them the error of setting Iulius Caesar's murder in the curia: it's production values look supremely high with good attention to detail on the military gear.

Looking very nice !!!

M.VIB.M.
I couldn't tell for sure: will this make network TV, or just cable/satellite connection in the US? Or will it make the US market at all?
It looks like all the senators are in toga praetexta with a red border, with the magistrates like Antonius wearing a darker border, almost maroon. Interesting attention to the military gear, with the usual musculata and Hollywood helmets for the officers. I hope this becomes available in the States.
Looks interesting. Marcus Antonius is played by the guy who played Vinicius in the Polish "Quo Vadis" from 2002.
Hmm...huge yuk to all the CGI if that stays in the series, but I'm impressed by the Latin (but perhaps that's becasue I can understand it!! Confusedhock: )
The CGI is not as good as that done by ILM, no doubt about it. Indeed, the film overall looks a little too dark for my taste. Where are the bright colors and the Italian sun shine?

However...

Few companies have the computing power of ILM (in fact only NASA and the NSA have more raw computer power than ILM, and I'm not sure about NASA anymore...) but I do think this French production has but their budget to good use. The production team from the HBO series Rome, should take note. Their battles could have been, should have been, as good.

Narukami
Seems like they are pronouncing Caesar with a soft 'C' instead of a hard 'C'.
Obviously filmed in Porn-O-Vision, security is blocking it....
Well, GJC, your security team heard there were naked blades in the video, so what do you expect?
Meh. Fake looking "dramatic" filters and very fake looking CGI. Way too stylized. And the Triumvirate AGAIN? Eech. Boring.

(I think HBO had much better looking battles than this does.)
