In Tongeren, there is a well that is believed to be the well mentioned by Pliny the Elder. Today, it is part of an amusement park, but when I arrived to visit the place (last spring), I discovered that the park was bankrupt and everything was closed. Climbing across the fence was impossible (dogs) and there was no guard I might have asked permission to visit the well.

Does anyone know what it looks like? Google Maps shows a photo that was taken when the amusement park was still under construction (here); not very helpful. Is it a pit? A pool?
Jona,

after some creative Googling, this page came up: [url:ykocvuvo]http://www.insulaumbra.com/nreurope2002/saturday.html[/url]
There's a couple of pictures on this page that - according to the explanation - show the well.
Thanks Daniel. The small temple must be this building.
Pliny's well?? I thought he was dead...?
