I am looking for a good travel guide for Roman Spain; Iron Age and Islamic Spain and digressions into Portugal are no serious obstacle, but language may be. If I read slowly, I understand Spanish, but for ready reference, English is preferrable.

The name of a good bookshop in Valencia may be useful as well.
Hi Jona

I have 'Roman Spain' by S.J.Keay, a British Museum publication which first appeared in 1988. There might be copies available on Amazon. It is not much of a 'on the site guide' and 'how to get there' sort of thing but it does list all the important sites. I am not aware of much else in English on the subject.

Graham.

A very good book, yes; fortunately, I own a copy.
Notr a general guide, but obviously of interest to chaps here:

A. Morillo, J. Aurrecoechea (eds.)
The Roman Army in Hispania. An archaeological guide.
León, 2006
ISBN 84-9773-284-7

Given as a complimentary copy to contributors to XX Limeskongress in Leon in 2006. Also available at Portico Librerias, I believe. http://www.porticolibrerias.es/home.htm

Two parts. Second part is a detailed guide to Roman Military sites in the Peninsula, both Republican and Imperial. Lots of ills. Not conceived as a tourist guide, it does not provide access instructions. Detailed bibliography for each site.
First part summarizes in different chapters current research on Roman Military affairs in Spain. By way of axample, my own chapter in .pdf format at
