I gave away the pair that I made two years ago to a friend in need, they had stretched-out from a size 9 to about a size 10, and fit him very well. For my new caligae I realized that by combining toe straps I would have something closer to this:

The new pattern:

Did you cut the toe straps shorter this time?

No, they're about the same, why do they appear shorter?

No but if they had stretched-out from a size 9 to about a size 10 I presumed you would
cut the new straps shorter.
I cut mine two cm shorter (circumference), after six days they streched one cm.
So there's still a gap of one cm, I gues that will close to.
I rather have a gap between the straps-ends then a caligae thats to roomy.

Oh, point of confusion, my old boots had stretched-out and as I gave them to a person with larger feet there was no need to adjust the straps. We'll see how the new boots work out, we have a big roman event coming this weekend.
