Is there a comprehensive source anywhere that details what has been proven false (or reasonably determined false) in the Historia Augusta and what can be trusted? I know this is a difficult question, but I'm curious what information and what kind of opinions are out there. The best guide that I know of is here:

See Ronald Syme's Ammianus and the Historia Augusta (Oxford 1968), Emperors and Biography (Oxford 1973), and the various volumes of the Bonner Historia Augusta Colloquium.

Hi,
There is also a collection of Syme's articles about Historia Augusta:
Syme, R., 1983. Historia Augusta Papers, Oxford.

Syme should be a good source. I've liked other things by him that I've read and he has an excellent reputation.
