Hello,

At past edition of our event Tarraco Viva ( www.Tarracoviva.com ) i have used my new helmet made my friend Pastor. It's a brass gallic, based in the one preserved in the Guttmann's collection. It's in the database: http://www.romanarmy.com/cms/component/ ... Itemid,96/

Is yet unfinished, because lacks the spike for the crest, but i can't resist the temptation to use it...

As you can see in the pictures, the dome is very high, as the original:

In a few days, i will post the completely finished item and detail pictures.
Really nice. Well done!
Very Nice Cesar.
Another picture (copyright Ram Giner):

The cheekpieces are base in another helmet from Gutmann's collection. The brow reinforcment are based in another Gallic I, from Mainz preserved at Nuremberg:

Look, another time, how high is the dome.

There are many exemplars of Gallic I exemplars, so probably were a popular model.
Very nice helmet, congrats!

A high dome makes heavy padding possible, which is a very good thing Smile
Very nice Cesar Big Grin !

I just wish Deepeeka etc. would make helmets with higher domes too Sad ...
Cesar, that looks beautiful.
A really really nice helmet. Congratiulations Big Grin
Hello,

I have made some pictures of the helmet, yet with the spike atached. It's curious to see how such a little thing changes the aspect of the helmet.

I have included the pictures of the real helmet for comparation, from the "real gear" page of the Legio VI:

THE FRONT

REAR SIDE

It's quite curious the shape of the neckguard embossing. At the original the holes for the rear handle are clearly out of simmetry.

Cesar,

I love it. I think it is awesome. This is my favorite brass helmet from the 1st century.
Cesar, awesome work, as always.

Would you post a picture of the helmet liner? With such a high bowl on top of your head, I'm curious to see what you've come up with to keep the helmet up on your head.
