Comitatus are spending the bank holiday weekend on "the rock", the capital of Bernicia, Bamburgh Castle itself.

Built on a basalt outcrop, the castle was possibly home to a Roman watchtower, became the capital of the British Kingdom of Bryneich, and was later the citadel of Bernicia. It's a beautiful evocative location.

From there we'll be heading to Vindolanda just south the Wall, to be part of the Living Frontier event.
This really was a special weekend. Nearly 2,400 people came to see us, a record for the site.

The views from the castle walls was stunning. members could often be glimpsed just staring out to sea taking in the view of the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne.

We even had a King arriving through St Oswalds Gate like the first Germanic settlers.
