Legio IX Hispana's National Muster: I

FEBRUARY 9th-16th, 2009

We will gather at the SCA's Estrella War:
http://www.estrellawar.org/ESTRELLAWAR.aspx

We'll set up a Roman Camp with bread ovens plus a forge and
workshops for the manufacture of essential kit to include: metal, wood
and leather craft... such as segmentatas, pilum, furca, lolculus,
tegimen (scutum cover) and on and on and on.

We'll also be gluing up scutums using methods and tools that might have been used.

This will be an excellent opportunity for Members to spend as much as
a week working on kit! Imagine starting a segmentata and finsihing it
in time to use it!

Other activities will include morning assemblies, weapons drills and
daily marches to include at least one campaign march in full kit!

We'll camp on site as historically as possible!

Why the SCA's Estrella War?
- several of us already attend
- it will help promote our Arizona and Texas chapters
- its central to most of Legio IX Hispana's membership

You'll get a chance to see the debut of our new SCA combat kit, the
most historically accurate Roman presence on the SCA battlefield.
Yes... our soldiers will be wearing their reenactor segmentatas!

A must do event!

Not a Member of Legio IX Hispana? Think you might want to
attend? Then please write me direct at......

We are making arrangements to do a 80 man pila toss, a massed CENTURIA in a relatively dense formation approximately 20'x50'. We don't have enough members ourselves so we'll be "recruiting" volunteers.
