Call me crazy, but I thought I read that Scipio bested Hannibal in a smaller engagement before Zama. I thought it happened in Southern Italy after Scipio's Spanish victories.

Can anyone confirm this and give me a source to check?

Found it myself.

Scipio's defense of Locri against Hannibal. Not a set battle but Scipio deals his "master" a setback nonetheless.
