Not sure if any other Roman groups, aside from Comitatus, are attending.
Yes, Comitatus will be there with an infantry display, and the 'artillery through the ages' piece we participated in last year. Of course our artillery is the quietest, and actually shoots real projectiles ... unlike those iron noise makers from past centuries....

Smile
We'll be sending at least a file down to this show, with the ballista. It allows us to practice our infantry display before the major shows of the season start at Lincoln on late May BH. I'm hoping for good shopping and better weather.

Last year we stuck the ballista in a trailer and it got towed to the arena behind a quad bike. I went with it. The sense of power and speed was exhilarating. I could target anything within 200m, while traveling at 20mph.

If you are there pop in for a chat.

Yes fingers crossed for better weather than last year although I'm not hopeful as the weeks weather seems to be rain, rain, rain. My first time camping, ever, so a bit nervous :? More so because of the toddler who will no doubt cry all night and then be up at dawn. So if you see an apparition with a buggy doing laps of the fields at an ungodly hour it's probably just me.
Are dune-buggies period authentic? :?

Probably not, nor these buggies.... [Image: 485050.jpg]
My God....what it that leathal looking contraption Confusedhock: Confusedhock:
I've had flashbacks about being run down in broad daylight on the highstreet by something like that...but I always thought it was a bad dream........ :o shock:
Err yeah, by buggy I meant "ye olde wagon" nothing from Mothercare, honest :? P
Okay forget the buggy. A dingy may be more appropriate after checking the weather reports. Should have befriended a viking group to blag use of their drakkar Big Grin
Not another summer like last year I hope? I should have joined a marine re-enactment group......

 Yeah tell me about it. My upsidedown roofbox lid with swords for oars will have to do :?
I got a two man coracle a few years ago, made from rawhide. It's been on various rivers and I give members of the group rides etc. But last season it would have been useful at most events.

This weekend will be OK. Be positive.
Yeah, it will be sunny and blue skys tomorrow for 3 whole weeks, and definately no FOG tomorrow!!!!!!!

Positive? Me? I'm a born worrier I'm afraid Big Grin

We got stuck in Gloucester last year, was meant to be on our way to Joust at Berkeley castle. I have never seen roads turned into raging torrents like that.

Medieval Watersports at Berkeley

Tewkesbury also did a fantastic job of keeping their event on considering a couple of days before it was all under water, it was then a mini-heatwave and we got sunburn. Gotta love the English weather!

I'll take the BBC report. At least that shows some sun unlike AOLs!
