An outrageous plug by me on behalf of an old friend whom I caught up with again at the Discourses in Roman Warfare conference at Warwick on saturday.
The first in UK Ancient Historian Harry Sidebottom's trilogy, set in the 3rd century AD, is coming out in July of this year. He tells me that it's set partly in Dura Europos under siege by the Persians. Harry's a highly entertaining speaker and raconteur and I'm pretty sure the novel should reflect this, and his extensive knowledge of Roman culture, behaviour, philosophy and of course warfare, to give his audience an 'authentic' Roman experience.
